Musculoskeletal Disorders or MSDs are injuries and disorders that affect the human body’s movement or musculoskeletal system for example muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, discs, blood vessels, etc.

How to treat Musculoskeletal Disorders ?

As an Osteopathic physician, Dr. Soufer has had additional training in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders.  Osteopathy focuses on expanding the relationship between our organs musculoskeletal system. This is known as viscerosomatic and somatovisceral reflexes. The essence of treatment is to bring balance to the whole body as supposed to masking pain and compartmentalizing body parts. We believe in utilizing multiple modalities in our treatment approach. These may include:

  • Injections with anesthetic or anti-inflammatory medications in or around the painful sites
  • Exercise that includes muscle strengthening and stretching
  • Physical or occupational therapy
  • Acupuncture or acupressure
  • Relaxation/biofeedback techniques
